Arvneeti 2011: A Strategy To Prosper

III Annual Arvneeti 2011
organised on 11 March, 2011 by the students of Master of Finance Control(MFC,) offered by the Department of Financial Studies(DFS), University of Delhi

Arv-Neeti is the strategy for prosperity. It is the experience of exploring the finer nuances of financial strategy which have been in play through the ages. The annual event of DFS, Arv-neeti provides a platform for the coming together of young and dynamic minds and for the broadening of their horizons. This year, Arvneeti was organised on 11th March 2011 at South Campus.

Mr. Vinod Pande (Sr. Vice President and Head Delhi) of SBI Capital was the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp and emphasizing the importance of such events in a professional course like MFC. He was assisted by our Head of the Department, Prof I M Pandey, and senior professor, Prof Muneesh Kumar.

We chose 'Green' as the theme for Arvneeti in conjunction with our support for the environment and the need to use natural resources in a better way.

This year Arvneeti was a mix of formal and informal events. The formal events included The Dollar Juice (the business quiz event), Share Scare (The Equity Research Competition), Trade Czar (The Stock Market Simulation) and Travian (The Business Plan).

Share Scare saw equity research reports arriving from all the premier b-schools. After a rigorous screening process, six best equity research reports were chosen and invited to the campus to present their analysis of their chosen company in front of an esteemed panel of judges. The team from DFS won the event with the teams from MDI and IIFT jointly placed second.

Travian’s first round challenged students to come up with a solution to a case study. Out of the total applications received, six were short listed and invited to present their business ideas to an esteemed panel of judges. Teams from IIM L and MDI bagged first and second prizes respectively.

Dollar Juice was an on-the-spot multi round quiz event which had participants racking their brains against interesting questions from all kinds of fields. The team from College of Business Studies won this battle of wits.

Trade Czar had more than 200 participants braving stock market blues for one week on an online platform provided by tradetracker.com.

Arvneeti ’11 also saw enthusiastic participation in a slew of informal events such as street play, paint your tee, collage making, LAN gaming, JAM, photography and hard sell.

Participation from nearly all top business schools with high attendance ensured that the event was a huge success. This event made the students of MFC get hands-on experience of organizing a large scale event where they could demonstrate their leadership and team work skills. Arvneeti 2011 paved the path for a much bigger event next year.
